Two major cultural projects on the west coast have received federal funding.
The Flat Bay Band has received $800,000 to complete a project known as Mary Webb’s Gathering Place. Mary Francis Webb was a local midwife and traditional healer who was well-known and respected in the region. The new wellness centre will provide a space for people to gather and connect with their history and culture through a variety of events and programs.
Meanwhile, just over $395,000 is being provided to the Our Lady of Mercy Complex Committee for restoration and renovation work on the historic former church building.
