RCMP in Bay Roberts have released images of some counterfeit money that was recently circulating in the Conception Bay North area to make business owners and others aware of what to watch out for.
Police were contacted by two separate businesses this week indicating that counterfeit bills had been used to purchase merchandise.
The suspect was described as a tall man in baggy clothes with a scruffy beard. A counterfeit $50 bill was used in one incident and a fake $100 bill was used in the other.

RCMP say both bills had a number of discrepancies that identify them as fake. The bills were smaller in size and faded in colour when compared to legitimate currency. They also have the look and feel of a paper bill without the plastic coating.
The clear window of the bills was made of tape and the image contained within the clear window was printed and applied to the bill.
Anyone with information on the fake money is asked to contact Bay Roberts RCMP at 709-786-2118 or Crime Stoppers.
