Members of the United Steelworkers local 9316 are voting next week on a final contact for its members at Braya Renewable Fuels.
In December, Braya announced a temporary shutdown which came into effect last month.
In a letter to employees that was acquired by VOCM News, Vice President of Refining at Braya, Paul Burton, said the possible shutdown was driven by lower-than-normal margins and the expiration of the Blenders Tax Credit in the United States.
At the time the company was unable to say how long the halt in production might last.
Next week’s contract vote is scheduled for Monday, February 17th from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Union Hall in the AMEIL Building in Come By Chance and from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the firehall on site.
Voting is also scheduled at the same places and times on Wednesday February 19th.
