Passengers on a flight from New Jersey to Dublin made the most of their stay in Newfoundland almost 48 hours after their flight was diverted to YYT due to a medical issue on board.
The United Airlines flight was able to lift off early this morning, taking almost 200 people to their destination.
One group, a set of students from Tulsa, Oklahoma, spent the 48 hours exploring and learning about Newfoundland and Irish Newfoundland culture – something they were supposed to be doing in Ireland this weekend.
They also learned to curl from MHA and Olympic gold medalist Jamie Korab, who brought his medal to the Remax Centre in St. John’s.
One of the students, Baylen Sen, now hopes to study marine biology off the coast of Newfoundland when he graduates from high school.
When asked if he would return to the province for a vacation, he says he hopes to come back again when the weather is nicer.
