It was a record-breaking radiothon for an organization which strives to ensure that every school-aged child has at least one nutritious meal a day—no questions asked.
Kids Eat Smart, more commonly known as the Breakfast Club in hallways of our schools, thanked the entire province as they announced the total on VOCM from the Avalon Mall at 1:00 this afternoon.
Executive director Celina Stoyles presented the total live on air, of $209,500.
Donations came from near and far, including Gander. VOCM host Kerri Hodder announced a $20,000 donation from Gander Goodwill. The money goes to schools in the greater Gander region.
NAPE President Jerry Earle stopped by with a donation of over $28,000 from the union.
VOCM Cares also presented a $20,000 donation towards the cause.
