Brad Gushue had the match in his hands but fell just short against Brad Jacobs in the Brier semi-final.
His last shot would have given the six-time Brier champ a chance to go for a record seventh, but it was not to be. The Jacobs rink went on to defeat Matt Dunstone 5-3 in the final shot in the championship match.
Team Gushue will now have to compete to represent Team NL at next year’s Brier in St. John’s.
