Despite the current trade and tariff environment, many involved in the fishery, including government, are heading to Boston next week for a trade show on seafood.
Fisheries Minister Gerry Byrne notes that about 65 per cent of the seafood produced in Newfoundland and Labrador was exported to the United States in 2024, valued at almost $900-million.
Seafood North America takes place in Boston Sunday through Tuesday.
The minister says the primary objective of the show will be to maintain existing relationships with the United States in the face of tariffs and other challenges.
