A 28-year-old man was arrested and a weapon and quantity of drugs were seized after police checked on a vehicle parked in Stephenville.

RCMP in Bay St. George noticed the vehicle parked at a business on Carolina Avenue around 3:00 a.m. Sunday.

The driver, Austin Feltham, was detained as part of an impaired driving investigation.

Police say Feltham was found in possession of cocaine and brass knuckles. He was arrested and his vehicle was searched, resulting in the seizure of a number of items including 30 grams of cocaine, two tablets labeled as Xanax, more than 12 grams of a substance that has been sent for drug analysis, and a set of brass knuckles.

The accused is charged with trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The investigation continues, and further charges are possible.
