A pioneer of the local professional wrestling scene has passed away.
Wes Hutchings, known by his ring name Hartford Love, has passed away at the age of 84.
Hutchings’ daughter, JoAnn, announced his passing on social media on Thursday, noting that he “never wanted to submit even at the end.”
Hutchings, a Spaniard’s Bay native, wrestled as a member of The Love Brothers, a heel – or villainous – tag team with Reginald Love, whose real name was John Evans.
Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling says the duo became two-time international tag team champions with them in 1974, and describes them as “arguably the top duo in the tag team division in Toronto from 1969 to 1975,” noting that they were able to incite fans “like few before or after.”
