The provincial government is looking for applications aimed at expanding Wi-Fi access across the province.
As part of a pilot project last year, government installed two solar-powered, satellite-enabled Wi-Fi hotspots along the Burgeo Highway.
Now, they have issued an expression of interest for up to 10 new hotspots.
As part of the submissions, they will be considering one hotspot in an underserved community, and up to two hotspots along a major highway—with priority being given to areas with little or no connectivity.
The province is seeking interest from both communities and economic development partners on the initiative.
Applications will remain open until either 10 successful pilots have been awarded, or until all pilot funding is spoken for—whichever comes first.
