There were no injuries after a snowmobiler in Labrador got their machine stuck in deep water last week.
The RCMP were first notified that the driver, who was travelling alone, got their machine stuck in deep water after the belt got wet near Cooper’s Point in Sandwich Bay around 4 p.m. last Thursday.
Four members of Cartwright Ground Search and Rescue went out to the remote location and were able to free the driver, their snowmobile, and their komatik from the water.
There were no injuries and the driver was able to return to Cartwright with the team.
The RCMP is reminding that as temperatures warm, many bodies of water throughout the province may not be safe to travel on, and are encouraging people to check ice conditions before heading out.
