Members of the public stepped in to detain a man causing trouble in downtown St. John’s last night.

RNC were called to a disturbance just before midnight. When officers showed up, several people in the area had already detained the man while awaiting for police to arrive.

The 58-year-old was charged with assault, causing a disturbance, mischief, breach of release order, and breach of probation.

He spent the night at the lockup awaiting a court appearance.
