There is a forest fire on the western edge of the Avalon Peninsula burning this hour.
The fire, which broke out at about 2:00, is centered about 5km east of Whitbourne on the transmission line. Forestry has been notified.
Whitbourne Fire Chief Jamie Budden says there is heavy traffic on the TCH but the smoke is not interfering, however that could change should the wind turn in a different direction.
