The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is reminding the public to go through the appropriate channels to report suspicious or criminal activity.
Constable James Cadigan says the RNC has seen a recent uptick in people posting about potential criminal incidents on social media, and but they are not receiving any reports.
“We do no not launch investigations based on social media posts,” says Cadigan. He says social media posts can provide them with information, but without a police report being filed they don’t have the authority to further investigate.
