A new program that helps medical students practice on virtual patients has officially been launched.
CyberPatients 2.0 is an interactive learning platform that lets doctors practice virtually, mimicking real-world experience.
It allows medical students to apply what they’ve learned in school to virtual patients across a full range of care, from the first doctor’s visit to the emergency room, to the point where the patient is discharged.
Founder and CEO, Dr. Karim Qayumi, says like pilots training to fly an airplane on a simulator, a medical student will have the ability to practice on many virtual patients before ever treating a real one.
CyberPatient also gives training on another front, tracking and measuring the total financial impact of patient care.
It helps doctors learn to better manage the decision that impact the cost of care for hospitals, since Dr. Qayumi says hopsital administrators have to make life-and-death decisions with scarce resouces.
