The first day of the recreational cod fishery could have turned ugly, but two people who were in a boat which overturned in Conception Bay have been rescued.
The incident unfolded this morning with the RCMP, Coast Guard and volunteer fire department from Harbour Main-Chapel’s Cove-Lakeview responding. A dinghy rescue craft picked up the pair off Crawley’s Point.
Winds are not particularly high today but, once on the water, anything can happen.
