More residents of the Avalon Peninsula and some in central Newfoundland have been ordered to evacuate their towns and cabins as the risk from area wildfires increases.
Shortly before 3 p.m. an emergency alert was issued to evacuate the town of Perry’s Cove, about 10 kilometres south of Kingston in Conception Bay North, where one fire continues to burn.
As of late Tuesday, it remained “very active as winds shifted throughout the day.”
About 10 minutes later, an expanded evacuation order was issued for the town of Holyrood from the northeast town boundary to 377 Conception Bay Highway, in the vicinity of the Irving.

Another evacuation order was also issued for the same area, from Route 60 to the south side Irving, with residents advised to head to the Robert French Memorial Stadium on Legion Road.
Some residents of the town had already been relocated on Monday due to a wildfire.
As well, the RNC asked people who are not from C.B.S. to stay away from the area for now.
The RNC requests that non-resident motorists avoid accessing @TownofCBS to assist with reducing traffic delays during evacuation procedures.

An evacuation alert was also issued for the town of Salmon Cove.
Officials say the orders and alert are necessary “due to changes in fire behaviour and wind predictions.”
Meanwhile, the Grand Falls-Windsor Fire Department said in a Facebook post that it is aware of “a fire visible from town, near the Bay d’Espoir highway. Forestry has been contacted and will be actioning the fire.”
That was followed at 4:30 this afternoon by an immediate evacuation order for cabin owners in the areas of Martin Lake and Great Rattling Brook.
That’s almost 40 kilometres from the Trans-Canada Highway, off the Bay d’Espoir Highway.
Officials say a ground crew and helicopter are responding to that fire.
In addition to the province’s four waterbombers, a bird dog aircraft arrived Monday from New Brunswick to assist with operations.
Three Air Tractor 802s, known for use in agriculture, were also requested from New Brunswick and are expected to arrive Wednesday morning.
