Residents of a house in Rabbittown can thank a quick response by firefighters for sparing their home of any serious damage.
At about 7 p.m., crews were called to a two-storey home on Feild Street—roughly 300 metres from Central Fire Station. They arrived to find smoke coming from the dwelling.

Upon entry, they discovered a mattress on fire on the first floor. Firefighters removed the mattress from the home, drowning the flames with water straight from a fire engine.
There were no injuries reported, and the home suffered no lasting damage.
