The province’s chief medical officer of health says discussions are underway to expand eligibility for free access to the RSV vaccine.
Currently, the province offers the vaccine to those who are 60 and older and residing in a congregate living facility.
The National Advisory Committee on Immunization has already recommended the vaccine be more easily available to a larger segment of the population, something Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says they are considering.
“We have to look at them and ask what are the costs versus benefits and do our due diligence and evaluation. So we’re looking at all those things right now.”
