A Bonavista woman who used fake I.D.s and credentials to get work as a nurse in this province managed to once again dodge her sentencing in provincial court today.
Forty-six-year-old Lisa Driscoll was charged in early 2023 after police were contacted by Chancellor Park, where she worked as an LPN until they were tipped off by licensing officials, and she was fired.
But she soon got more work, this time as a nurse at Lakeside Homes in Gander, which lasted three months before she was fired again.
Court has heard Driscoll used different names and fake credentials to dupe employers at several other long-term care homes.
She pleaded guilty last May with sentencing set for this past fall, but it was postponed due to a change of lawyers and health issues that a skeptical Crown insists can’t be verified.
This morning, Driscoll was again a no-show, with her lawyer confirming she was admitted to hospital yesterday, though it’s not clear why, or where she was admitted.
Driscoll is to be sentenced for fraud over $5,000 and identify theft, but also faces charges of perjury and theft, and a separate trial in Gander next month.
An update on her sentencing in St. John’s is set for January 30th.
