A petition is being circulated to save a piece of land that many – especially those who live in the Signal Hill area – hold dear to the hearts.
Dr. Penny Allderdice passed away last May at the age of 93.
Her property on Signal Hill, known as Limeville, includes rare plants she planted, and it’s seen as a natural attraction and oasis for tourists and residents alike.
The property has been sold and an application has been submitted to the city for a luxury home development on the site.
Crystal Bishop-Hamel, a friend of Allderdice, has started a petition to stop the development.
She says she made a promise to the woman that she would do her best to protect and preserve the land because it is treasured by so many people.
Bishop-Hamel says the land is very special.
“It’s like walking in wonderland” says Hamel, who focuses on the trees, the flowers, and the birds that populate the area. She says walking through the area fills her with love.
The petition has over 3,100 signatures thus far.
