A Newfoundlander has been accepted into the NASA Hubble Fellowship Program.
Dr. Anna O’Grady, a Kilbride native, is one of 24 astrophysicists accepted into the program – which provides three years of support as they conduct independent research.
O’Grady, who is currently a post-doctoral fellow at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, says her passion for the stars began at a young age when she was looking through an atlas of photos from the Hubble Space Telescope.
She can vividly remember going through the pictures and reading the information and thinking, “this is it, this is what I want to be doing.”
O’Grady begins her fellowship in September.
