A panel review of the Churchill Falls MOU with Quebec will be released on May 19th.
Government received the report last Thursday, but says because it touches on “several matters of significant commercial sensitivity,” it is undergoing a technical and legal review before it can be released publicly.
Premier Tony Wakeham says he will not be commenting on the contents of the report until it is released.
All three members of the review committee will be in St. John’s on May 19th when the report is released so the public can hear from them directly.
Meanwhile, Wakeham confirms he has spoken with the premier of Quebec since receiving the report, but was non-committal on when talks could resume.
He says there is “no rush” noting that the issue is “too important” for residents and they have to make sure the deal is done right.
