The provincial government is offering a few tips on having an emergency kit prepared and on the ready.
This is Emergency Preparedness Week, a time to focus on being at the ready when disaster threatens or strikes.
An emergency kit, which should be devised to sustain for 72 hours, should include two litres of drinking water per person per day, non-perishable canned and dried foods, a manual can opener and disposable plates and utensils, all necessary prescriptions, medications and medical equipment, personal hygiene items, extra water for washing, a first aid kit and battery operated radio and flashlight along with extra batteries.
A full list of items needed for an emergency kit can be found on government’s website.
