The Gander International Airport Authority is reporting continued recovery in passenger traffic over the last year – bringing it to about 74 per cent of pre-COVID numbers.
Passenger traffic grew 5 per cent over the previous year, and revenue of $10.43 million – a 21 per cent improvement over 2024.
Gander International saw operating expenses of $9.53 million in 2025, and a return to surplus moving from a $727,612 deficit in 2024 to a surplus of close to $900,000 in 2025.
Airport authority CEO Reg Wright says while recovery continues, the results show that demand responds when capacity and schedule are available.
He says at the peak of the pandemic they anticipated it would take about 5 years to get back to where they were. “We’re still not…there in terms of passenger traffic. We’re still stuck at about 70 per cent, but certainly our financial situation has improved which is rewarding to see.”
