The top doctor in the province says we fared quite well this year in terms of respiratory illness such as the flu.
Last year was a rough one for influenza but the chief medical officer of health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, says this was more of a normal flu season.
“We had a flu “A” peak earlier in the winter, and we’re moving through a flu “B” peak now and are on the downward side of it,” says Dr. Fitzgerald.
“We’re seeing a decrease in the number of hospitalizations as usually once we see that second peak, we don’t see much until the fall.”
