Government wants to unload a small power plant in central Newfoundland which has sat idle for over a decade.
The Buchans Generating Facility, owned by Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, has not operated since 2014.
Government has called for expressions of interest in an effort to gauge potential uses and benefits.
Interest was shown last year by a consortium consisting of Qalipu First Nation, Qalipu Holdings, Growler Energy and Angler Solutions, but no acquisition agreement was reached. The group will be encouraged to participate in the current process.
The facility, located near the town of Buchans, is a 1.8 MW plant
Hydro has no plans for it, but it would cost plenty to decommission the structure and clean up the site.
