One person was taken to hospital following a startling ATV crash in the east end of St. John’s this afternoon.
First responders rushed to the public playground on Blue Puttees Drive—near Stavanger Drive—shortly after 1 o’clock.
It appears the ATV struck a protective chain fence around the playground, ripping posts from the ground and rolling the vehicle.

The ATV came to rest against a park bench metres from a play structure.
Reports indicate there were no other vehicles involved, and the playground was empty at the time.
The RNC says the driver was taken to hospital as a precaution, after sustaining minor injuries in the crash.
