The provincial government is spending some $31-million to build 344 new affordable rental units.
Minister Joedy Wall made the announcement yesterday, with units to be built at 33 sites across the province.
Funding for the work is being redirected from a project previously announced in 2023 that the current government has deemed “unrealistic.”
Minister Wall says the units will be built through NL Housing over the course of 18-30 months.
“So we have some units based on (an income of) $42,000 or less, we have some based on $38,000 or less,” he told reporters.
“So this is important for the people of the province, for the families who are working, struggling at times, this will certainly give them that hope and optimism that these new units will be available and in that price range.”
