Ottawa has set aside over $3.7-million for two tourism operators on the west coast.
The Gros Morne Cooperating Association will receive $2.7-million of that, which will be used to create a culinary and cultural hub, and to capitalize on the Gros Morne Cultural Blueprint – which calls for a collaborative approach towards product development and marketing.
Meanwhile, the Gros Morne Institute for Sustainable Tourism will get a little less than $1-million to implement the Activating Community Tourism Initiative over the next two years.
That project was developed with St. Francis Xavier University, which challenges participants to prioritize community in their developments – rather than looking at them solely through the lens of the visitor experience.
