Newfoundland and Labrador has joined eight other provinces in signing a direct-to-consumer agreement, allowing breweries, wineries, and distilleries to ship their products directly to homes nationwide.
Premier Tony Wakeham calls it a major win for ‘Team Canada,’ and the Executive Director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Craft Brewers Association agrees.
Steve Crocker says while they don’t have all the detail yet, it will be a good thing for tourists who come here, like a product, and wish to access it after they go back home.
He says it also gives producers in Newfoundland and Labrador an opportunity to access other markets in the country.
“We have approximately 20 breweries spread out throughout this province, creating tourism opportunities and good local jobs,” said Crocker.
He says with the recent push for local purchasing, he thinks it’s important “to take this opportunity to reflect and buy what serves our people best.”
