Some nine million dollars in municipal capital works funding for communities throughout the province was announced this morning in St. Mary’s.

Provincial Transportation Minister Barry Petten, area MP Paul Connors and St. Mary’s Mayor Steve Ryan were on-hand for today’s event.

Minister Petten says $656,000 has been set aside for culvert replacement in the St. Mary’s area.

“It’s very important, because a lot of the culverts are deteriorating and of course you can’t put new asphalt down, (until) what’s under the road (is) taken care of, it is very important.”

Minister Petten says more funding is coming, with more announcements anticipated in the not too distant future.
