NDP Leader Jim Dinn has written the Prime Minister to “protect and Invest” in Canada’s public health care system.

Dinn’s concerns were raised after the government of Alberta’s decision to pass a bill which will allow for some public and private practice within public hospitals.

Dinn argues that allowing private, for-profit health care to take hold in the public system will not improve health outcomes for Canadians.

He points to the United States, where he says millions of Americans continue to fight for universal access to publicly funded health care.

Dinn also asked the Prime Minister to come back to the table with provinces, like Newfoundland and Labrador, which have not already signed up for the pharmacare program.
