The city of St. John’s is not ruling out changing its current management model at St. John’s Sports and Entertainment.
Yesterday, the city released details of the findings of the KPMG report, comparing the management model St. John’s Sports and Entertainment uses with other municipalities across Canada.
The models compared were city owned and operated (otherwise known as The Status Quo), third party management, a third party management hybrid, long term lease, and sale of the building.
The report found the city owned model is in line with most other municipalities in the country, but did offer some recommendations on how to improve.
City councillor and chair of the board for St. John’s Sports and Entertainment, Jamie Korab says their current model is working well and just needs some fine tuning. However, the city will consider other options.
He says they need to figure out the best management system, whether that is maintaining the status quo or using a third party system is something they need to determine.
