RCMP say a 75-year-old man and a 78-year-old woman were killed in a devastating two-vehicle crash on the Trans Canada near Southern Harbour Friday morning.
The pair were in an SUV that collided with a pickup just before noon.
The driver of the pickup and his passenger were taken to hospital with serious injuries. RCMP say the passenger’s injuries are potentially life-altering.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, but roads were wet at the time.
The highway was closed for an extended period, and reopened over the supper hour.
