The Newfoundland and Labrador NDP is hosting a panel discussion tomorrow on food insecurity.

The event is being hosted by leader Jim Dinn, and will be moderated by Sharron Callahan – the executive director of the NL Public Sector Pensioners Association.

Panelists will include representatives from the Food Producers Forum, Single Parents Association, Bridges to Hope, and Food First NL.

Dinn says the people on the panel will talk about what food insecurity means from their perspective.

He says many people are struggling to make ends meet right now, noting the importance of the conversation in the context of the trade war with the United States and the recent Churchill Falls deal.

He says the cost of buying quality food has become a “significant expense,” and they wanted to hold this event before the House of Assembly reopens.

The event is taking place from 2-4 p.m. at Wesley United Church in St. John’s.
