The City of St. John’s is in good financial shape according to council, which released the Report on Revenue and Expenditures for 2025.
St. John’s has a cash surplus of $6.7-million, which represents 1.8 per cent of the city’s annual operating budget of $378-million.
Mayor Danny Breen notes that that demonstrates a pretty good job by staff who compile the numbers and estimates that go into putting together a budget.
“It puts us in good financial stead where the accumulated surplus is around $20-million over the past few years which gives us some flexibility for things which happen and are unplanned,” says Mayor Breen.
