Policies that allow people to age in place are helping people stay in their homes longer, but the need is great.
That’s according to Senior’s Advocate, Dr. Suzanne Brake.
Newfoundland and Labrador has the highest rate of home ownership among seniors in Canada.
Brake says the number one concern for many seniors is being able to stay in their own home, but supports are needed to allow people to do that.
She says the cost of maintaining a home, including energy costs, are of great concern to seniors.
Families are getting smaller, and Brake says supports are needed to ensure that caregivers are also supported.
