The federal government and the Town of CBS are spending about $1.6 million to upgrade several trails and public areas in the community.

Mayor Darrin Bent and area MP Paul Connors made the announcement yesterday, which includes $1-million from the federal government to fund the project.

According to MP Connors, the money will go toward accessibility upgrades at several sites in the municipality.

“There’ll be improvements at Topsail Beach, Worsley’s Park, along the trailway, right up along our coastline, up in Lawrence’s Pond,” he said.

“It’s important, especially as it’s the second largest community in the province. We have a very active community here. There’s a lot of people that use our walking trail here. There are a lot of people that visit Topsail, and it’s not only residents that visit Topsail Beach. A lot of people from outside visit Topsail Beach.”
