The education minister says trying to bring class sizes down is an important issue to tackle, but what’s more pressing is addressing complexities in the classroom.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Union has long been advocating for government to address class size and composition.

Paul Dinn says Newfoundland and Labrador actually has one of the lowest student-teacher ratios in the country.

While getting class sizes right is a “big issue,” Dinn says there are other problems that also need to be addressed.

He says NL has some of the highest instances of “complex classrooms” in the country, and they are trying to come up with solutions to that.
