Final counts aren’t in yet, but the number of people visiting and nights sold in the provincial park system could even top last year.

In 2025, which featured one of the best summers ever in terms of weather, there were over 240,000 visits and over 70,000 nights sold, an all-time high on both fronts.

Geoff Bailey, the director of ParksNL, says they’re seeing more people, not just from Newfoundland and Labrador, but from the rest of Canada visiting the parks these days.

They noticed a high level of activity last April, as soon as the reservation system opened.

“Based on a preliminary look at it, we may have broken some numbers from last year, which was a record-breaking year,” says Bailey.

This past weekend marked the end of camping season in provincial parks.
