A 42-year-old woman is being held in custody pending a court appearance on charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon in connection with a stabbing in St. John’s which left a man with significant injuries.

The incident happened Thursday morning on Brazil Street.

The woman, who knew the victim, had left the area before police arrived but was arrested a short time later.

She is also facing charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.
