Downtown St. John’s says panhandling affects everybody in the downtown area.
An increasing number of panhandlers in the capital city, along with concerns from residents, has Thrive taking a research approach to the issue.
Downtown St. John’s is working with Thrive and the City of St. John’s to combat the situation and educate the public.
Gaylynne Gulliver with Downtown St. John’s says “a rising tide floats all boats” and they hope to get people the resources needed.
She says a lot of people find panhandling a deterrent and they don’t want that in the downtown area or want to see people hurting either.
