RNC are searching for a 12-round firearm magazine lost last night during a pursuit involving a suspect in a break and enter in the east end.
Police responded to a call of a break-in and theft from a home just before midnight last night. A police service dog caught onto a scent and followed the track with a patrol officer in tow.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says it was a fast pursuit over some rough terrain that included bogs and wetland, and they believe the .40 caliber magazine came dislodged from the patrol officer’s belt.
The track began in the area of the Logy Bay Access Ramp on Logy Bay Road and ended over an hour later in the Wedgewood Park neighbourhood, where the dog lost the track. It was afterwards the patrol officer noticed that the magazine was missing.
Officers retraced the track, but have not yet located the magazine. Anyone who notices the grey magazine is asked to contact the RNC immediately at 729-8000.
