Over $13-million has been set aside to help people with heating upgrades to their homes across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Federal Environment Minister Julie Dabrusin was in St. John’s earlier today for the announcement.
The feds are ponying up $10.5-million, and both NL Hydro and Newfoundland Power are putting up a combined $3-million.
The program, which will be delivered through Take Charge NL, will help over 1,400 homeowners and renters access things like heat pump and insulation upgrades, as well as an energy assessment and tailored recommendations.
The announcement comes on the heels of Ottawa’s new National Heat Pump Rebate, which will be launched next year and which is a separate pot of money.
