The House of Assembly will take a break from sitting this week before reopening next Monday for the final week before the Christmas holiday.
In the three weeks of the Fall sitting, decorum, or lack there of, may be the biggest takeway.
In the “spirit of collaboration” there has been very little, excluding PC Leader Ches Crosbie and NDP Leader Alison Coffin coming together in an effort to reprimand Fisheries Minister Gerry Byrne for comments made towards Jim Dinn and Jim Lester.
Byrne was later made to retract the comments after two days of debate, but never did apologize.
Then late last week, Tom Osborne had to apologize after making a comment towards PC Kevin Parsons about his marital status. Parsons first took a jab at Osborne for crossing the floor from the PCs to the Liberals.
Coffin says it’s difficult to collaborate or even cooperate when accusations and slurs are being hurled across the House of Assembly.
The House will reconvene next Monday for its final four days of sitting, and only time will tell if behaviour will change.
