The new president of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Association is pleased to hear government commit to the use of body cams for RNC officers starting next year.
Constable Shane McClafferty previously indicated that the introduction of body cams was among his priorities in assuming leadership of the RNCA.
He calls it a great step in the right direction for transparency.
“Anybody who knows me knows I talk a lot about educating the public about what RNC members are facing, and body cameras are a great way to do that.”
“They’re transparent, they build trust within the community, we look to maintain that trust which is absolutely critical for us to do our jobs properly, so yeah, we’re excited about it.”
