A respected Inuk elder was remembered in the House of Assembly this week.
Emma Reelis passed away October 12th at the age of 78.
Indigenous Affairs Minister Lela Evans paid tribute to Reelis, calling her a “kind and caring woman who uplifted others through her wisdom, compassion and commitment to truth.”
“Elder Emma inspired people to embrace their identity, share their stories and take pride in who they were. Despite the hardships she endured as a residential school survivor, she transformed those experiences into a source of strength.”
