A former deputy mayor of Conception Bay South will be laid to rest today.
Sandra Baggs, who volunteered in many community groups and activities, sat on the town council for several terms beginning in the 1990s.
The MHA for Mount Pearl North, Lucy Stoyles, paid tribute to Baggs in the House of Assembly yesterday. The two served on the Northeast Avalon Joint Councils, which was chaired by Baggs.
Stoyles says she also worked with the arena board, helping to raise money, and Topsail United Church.
Funeral services take place at 11:00 at Topsail United.
