The new season of the National Basketball League of Canada is less than a month away but hometown favourite Carl English is not in the fold.

English hasn’t offered much detail, but with only a couple of weeks until training camp, there are still many issues on the table.

English not only starred on the court for the Edge, he helped attract other players and even managed the team for a period of time.

He says Newfoundland is a special place for him, but there are contractual issues from last year which still have to be rectified.

Until they are, he says he has nothing to do with the Edge.
